I don’t know what started this. I had been trying to get shots of this Great Blue Heron, a flock of baby Geese, and several Mallards. All at the same time.
When I looked up this is what I saw.
The Heron picked up speed when the Red Wing did not give up.
But then so did the Red Wing. The smaller bird was not giving any thought to the size of the Heron. He was yelling and hitting him pretty hard.
When they finally reached the other side of the pond the Red Wing landed in a nearby tree to keep an eye on the Heron.
I think the Great Blue Heron was more than a little confused as he stood off to the far side of the shore. What I didn’t include here was almost immediately after his escape from the Red Wing several geese joined the party. I’ll add those shots to a future article.
