Around here most Blue Herons avoid people and busy locations. However this one didn’t seem to be bothered at all.

The Goodspeed Opera House, in East Haddam Connecticut, is right on the Connecticut river. There is a large restaurant next door, a busy bridge, and heavy foot traffic is normal. The Opera House is well known in the Musical Theater world having started many productions for Broadway.
However, being on the river and the marshes this is also the home to Blue Herons, Osprey (seen fishing right from the front door), and other wildlife.

This Blue Heron here seems to thrive in the marsh located behind the Opera house. I walked along the road taking these photos as he wandered around ignoring me and everything else around him.

Any other time we would need to be deep in the mud. But not here, at least for now.
7/20/2021 - Wow ! This old article popped up on WordPress today. It's interesting how my photography has changed, yet the subject was the same. Even more of interest to me today is the amount of work it took to even find this Heron compared to now living in the Lowcountry by marshes/swamps teeming with wildlife. Ted
