Black-Tailed Prairie Dogs. All I knew about them was from public television and old west TV shows. They are being raised at Beardsley in Bridgeport Connecticut where there is a large enclosed hill for them to live on.
I have been told they hide most of the time. Not from what I saw. Critters were popping out holes, tackling each other, and in general running amok. A great time was had by all.
There are between 10 – 20 million Prairie Dogs today. If that sounds like a lot consider there once was over a billion. The most abundant animal in North America, and very important to the ecosystem.
They put on a good show and it was worth the trip just to see them.
