Shooting a long distance and getting a good photo is not always easy, no matter what equipment you have. Light glare on water is problematic. And the real wild card is the ‘air’ itself. Hot days can kill any focus or color.
Of course a beautiful schooner with full sails always shows up in these conditions.
All of the above photographs were shot with a long lens, between 350mm to 500mm, in hazy bright sunshine on the shore.
I love sailing ships and did not want to lose the shots. So I made some simple updates during processing.
