Since early spring I have been trying to get a decent photograph of a Kingfisher. They are very shy and unbelievably fast. In Rocky Neck they tend to stay out in the marsh near the Osprey nests. That’s a far shot no matter what lens you use.
On the river Kingfishers will sit in overhanging branches. You might see them dive for fish, but again usually too far.
Now that the leaves are gone I can see them and their favorite fishing branches.
For a few moments today this male sat and let me move around the bank getting some shots. Not all that close, these were taken at 500mm . However, considering how they typically act I was happy to get these.
