She was landing on the ground behind me. So close my lens could not focus at first.
These photographs were taken at The Center For Birds Of Prey. Here the hawk could fly around a large field, land in near by trees, almost sit on the photographer, and in general get a good exercise.
This particular hawk lives at the center since she has lost sight in one eye. Overall she was healthy, but in the wild probably would have a hard time catching prey. At the center she is well cared for, can still fly and be ‘a little wild’, yet be sure to have food. In return she is used for education and conservation demonstrations.
