This Red-tailed Hawk was not leaving his spot. Sitting in a dead tree over a sand dune he was sure dinner was in the brush below. Totally convinced of it.

The first photo I took was with a short lens, too small for this, but rule number one is take what you have been given, get clever later.

Once I saw he was too busy for me I took time and switched to a mid 300 mm lens and shot these images.
I never did see anything, he never gave up. We didn’t cross the line of going too close so he was there when we left.
