There were over 2,200 members in the crew. This ladder is an example of how limited the space was.
There were actually 5 Navy ships named the Yorktown. These images are from number 4, a previous carrier, sunk in the battle of Midway during WW II was quickly replaced with this one.
The last Yorktown was a missile cruiser commissioned in 1984.
