This just didn’t look right. I have seen alligators and herons in close quarters before, but in this marsh it is different. They ignore each other.

Given the opportunity I have no doubt the heron is dinner.

I have been to this marsh only once, the levy had been closed off right after this walk.

I will go back in the fall (too hot in the summer) and see how they are getting along. Warm weather makes alligators more alert, hungry, so I guess these casual strolls won’t be happening.
Something to see. In Eastern Ontario the herons keep company with ducks!
You never know what you see when out and about.
