The Red Maned Wolf from South American is not a wolf at all. It’s also not a dog, coyote, fox, or just about any other dog like animal you can think of.

They are a sub-species all on their own. No close living relative at all.

They live in the grass lands of Brazil and are endangered. Big surprise there.

They are also omnivorous and vegetables are a critical part of their diet.
In many of the photos taken (Beardsley Zoo, CT) I found it shocking how much their actions resembled domestic dogs. Just don’t pet them. The USA is involved with a large breeding program to help preserve the species.
