They were singing to each other. This could have been a nice shot instead of a story about not paying attention. I never saw the bird on the right.

The photograph above is the shot I was going for. This was in thick brush (many nasty ticks out there) and the songs from a catbird surprised me. Which now makes sense, it was Mr and Mrs.

Catbirds are common in the Connecticut woods. Even though they are not very flashy these birds are high on my favorites list. Always remind me of my childhood.

Another inch over and I would have had the duet.
