Young Little Blue Heron

It must be hard to look like this as a teenager.

This is a young Little Blue Heron. At this size they look very close to a baby Great Heron. The green tinted legs is the quick identifier.

The photograph above was taken at a rookery, a very busy rookery. A single large tree could have nests of Great Egrets, Little Blue Herons, and even Black Crested Herons.

It got pretty loud at times.

    1. The number of nests were amazing around that tree. This single (small) island has Great Egrets, Little Blue Herons, and Black Crested Herons. The last time I was near here was February and the Great Blue Herons had just started nesting. Missed all the chicks since we had to return to the north.
