The Ashley River in South Carolina runs alongside marsh lands and swamps. These photographs present one of the old canals, a marsh now, that fed southern USA rice plantations around the time of the civil war (1860’s).

This area is a photographers dream and, for me, a far cry from NYC Central Park and a 35 mm film camera where I started.
