Some of the most striking colors of a North American bird, at least i think so. Interesting that their bill is so thin as to be almost transparent.

Their food source of oysters will filter the water. Clean water results. So an area where these birds congregate is typically clean and clear water.
South Carolina low country is known for oyster beds. This explains why I see so many of these birds. Beautiful, loud, and fun to watch.

Strange is another good description. Fly in small flocks, loud, and wild orange beaks and feet. Gotta luv em
