This summer we had a time when I hadn’t seen a large heron for at least a month. Come fall they moved back into the marshes, in droves. We held back photographing them a while looking instead for more raptors.

No matter, you cannot ignore these birds for long. In another month they will move into the swamp rookeries and another generation will start.
We must have another hundred unique images to review of them and I bet in the next few days will add more.
