This is the American Alligator, a cousin of the crocodile. Alligators are fresh water reptiles and don’t require a climate as warm as crocodiles. About the same size. Don’t let the turtle size fool you. They are huge for turtles. So this young alligator is about 1.5 meters.
It’s amazing sometimes the way animals will keep the company of other animals you wouldn’t expect. Did you happen to see if the turtles were there first, or was it the alligator? Just curious if the turtles would have “abandoned ship” as it were if the alligator came crawling up to join them.
I think the baby crocodile is enjoying the hard pillow.☺

Ted, thanks for the information.
I love the look on the alligators face
Deep sleep and warm
Amazing sight. Excellent photo.
Thanks. Alligators will eat anything, and are very fast. Yet we see them very close to every type of animal.
Love this photo!
Thank you.

The turtles stay, even crawl on the alligators. If there is no room the biggest critter just takes the space they want.
Those brave little turtles! Thanks for answering my question. 🙂
