The center bird is an Anginga, the other birds on either side are Cormorants. The photograph is surprisingly not on the open water. This was off near a smaller pond. These birds are all divers but I guess it was less chaotic away from the rookeries.

Alligators can shake the ground with their deep rumbles. Prehistoric is the only way to describe it.

Swamps actually get louder once night falls. Small frogs and night birds being the culprits, except for the big locals.

    1. Thanks. The night sounds are incredible. When the big alligators rumble it seems everything stops until the vibrations end. Jurassic Park in real life. But just so cool !! Oh yeah, always have a flash light.

  1. We have those same sounds at our place. My parents ‘ friends who have visited over the years nicknamed it “the Dill Lake Chorus!” One couple recorded it so that when they got lonesome for the lake they could play it as they sat on their porch in Atlanta!
