Tricolored Heron In The Cane

This bird just would not move. He was planted in this sunny spot. The Tricolored is one of the prettiest herons. At 2 feet (61 cm) it is a small heron and one of the more hospitable.

It’s not uncommon to find these Tricolors fishing along side a Snowy Egret. A Snowy will scrap with each other all the time, but hang round with Tricolors.

I was hoping for an in flight photograph to catch all the color but that was not happening.

    1. They may not go as far north as you. They do venture into New England. Beautiful birds. There are many images here, in different locations. When you are snowed in (lol) search here for Tricolored. In sunlight they look almost painted.

    2. I thought you might be 🙂 . I still keep track of the New England weather, relatives in Maine, friends in Connecticut. I try not tell them about our sun and warm temperatures too often.
