The barn owl is the most widely distributed species of owl and one of the most widespread of all birds. They are found almost everywhere in the world. No north / south pole, or desert. Other than that somewhere around you is a Barn Owl.

The Barn Owl hunts small animals on the ground which means they are silent in the air and fly very low. Most people don’t know, but Owls usually only fly short distances and very low.

We have taken numerous photographs of different owls, but the one hanging on my wall is of a Barn Owl (OK in fairness I have a few Owls hanging). They always take a great photograph.

Photographed at the Avian Conservation Center, Awendaw, South Carolina.
Nice series, I agree these are very photogenic birds.
Thank you. That Owl was so beautiful, and cooperative. We have so many photographs it was hard not to publish them all 😀
Excellent problem to have!
I’ll take it.
Wonderful shots. They are on my list to see and photograph…
They make for incredible framed prints. Very Dramatic. A dark Owl print on aluminum works especially well in a dark area.
Beautiful birds, beautiful captures!
Thank you. One bird you can never get enough of. Except 2 AM outside the window.
Beautiful shots! Barn owls are just so unique and stunning. 🙂
Thanks. Owls can turn an average photo into something dramatic. Love em!
