These images were taken in an old blacksmith shop, Middleton Plantation, South Carolina. This plantation was begun in the 1730’s, and established around the 1750’s by Henry Middleton (the first president of the US Continental Congress before the US independence).
The shop is run much the same as during the US Civil War.
This means it was very dark, except for the white hot fire. Not the best conditions for photography. This did however make most of the images pretty dramatic.
I do plan on processing more photographs in black and white which I think will reflect the location and shoot a little better.
