Most Heron nests have 2 young birds. There is a nest with 3 near this one, but that one is too crowded. This nest did have 2 chicks, but one day only a single one was there. Probably best not to know anymore than that.

Here the young bird is testing flight, just a little early.

It didn’t work so the next best thing is chewing on Mom.
Birds are pretty dinosaur looking when they are babies, but get cute pretty quickly. I have never seen a baby heron before. Thank you.
I always think of Dragons when I photograph Great Blues in flight. 🙂
