This is an Owl species that is just as comfortable with daylight as night time. Being owls they do prefer the dark but they easily hunt and go about their business whenever convenient.

I was told by a ranger in Florida the Barred Owls are only out in daytime around the Everglades. There is so much competition for food, other animals hunting them, and changing water patterns day time is best for them.

The owl above, eating chicken, was in rehabilitation so day time was when everything happened around him. Unlike some owls there he was wide awake and flying around. Chicken was being offered and that wasn’t going to be missed.

This owl also seemed to be interested in the big one eye (camera lens) staring back at him.
Very nice!
Thanks
