These photographs were taken after the sun had been up for awhile. Late morning and afternoon will find these bigger ones sprawled out sleeping.

Not to say they don’t wake quickly if needed.

I’ve been admiring your posts about alligators. I’m from Dunedin, NZ and yesterday I did a post about our Croque-o-dile Cafe. A person from Louisiana has mentioned gator being an item on the menu in plenty of places. This amazed me – had no idea they would be on any menus!
😀😀, amazing but true. In some places, Louisiana in particular, they eat Alligator tails. I’ve never seen it on a South Carolina menu, though I have seen country signs offering it for sale. A protected species in most places.
