One foot in the air, the other hanging on the branch. The important thing was to get some sleep.

Black-crowned Night Herons like to sleep during the day. Now they only get short naps. Their young birds are at the ‘teen age’ period where they suck down food.

They can do short flights only, so the adults are non-stop fishing for food. Then I came along and messed up his quick nap between food runs for the kids.
