This bird was perched on a low branch, out over the river bank. Nice pose but harsh shadows and even a spot of glare.


To get these I pushed through some brush and looked through a gap in branches. Best I could get, but for some reason my opportunities with Snowy’s has been slim lately.
They were scarce in SW Florida last winter. I like these photos – they seem to exaggerate them in a good sort of way.
Thank you. Around here I find them more right along the coast ( a whopping 20 miles away) and less in swamps. I can get clean shots in the marshes but sun and bugs come with that. So for now I photo the ones that don’t mind swamps.
