The Ashley River is very short by any standard. I doubt it is longer than 20 miles. However it travels along South Carolina marshes and swamps teeming with wildlife.
It was also one of the wealthiest places in the world from the mid 1600’s through 1800’s. This river fed the huge plantations of the Charleston coast providing Europe with long grain rice and cotton.
Today it is a world of diverse wildlife, and of course a few photographers.
