Next Lesson Is Landing, Night Heron

This is a young Black-crowned Night Heron. I don’t think it has been flying very long. I say that because he is going to land on a vertical landing strip, known as the tree trunk.

I guess landing on a branch like everyone else was too easy.

In addition it would be best to slow down, and not cover your head when attempting this.

And of course, tree and bird meet. At least he grabbed it and hung on for a moment.

After catching his breath a small slide down got him to a ‘bump’ where he could stand. A swamp full of trees and he picks a ‘bump’.

Maybe a lesson learned, and of course any landing you can walk away from…
