Pelicans move in groups, small flocks, at the end of day to nightly resting areas. However, this was mid day when I first noticed large groups moving inland.
Afternoon storm clouds are a daily occurrence along the southern shores. These pelicans were serious about leaving though.
I was at the far end of a big pier, my choice was to stay under the small covering or head back. Given the fact only a week before a pier took a direct lightning hit I left.
Besides, except for photography I don’t do sand, sprawling bodies, and sun screen.
