This page includes better spider photos than the header image here. But the spider is fresh in my mind. Right now these guys are at the ‘super size’ stage.
I was a little too far into the swamp, off the trail, but I was focusing my lens on a heron. I noticed a single thread, just one thread, in my way. So I reached out to push it away. Hmmmm, getting the point?
It felt exactly like fishing line, thick fishing line. And my finger couldn’t break it! Freak out…I knew that was a bad thing.
I got the shots and sprinted back away. The image above is the spider fixing what I had just moved…from my face !!!!! I really, really, don’t like spiders.
The above was near my first friend. EJ and I agreed this was the biggest spider we had ever seen. I was going to hold up my hat for perspective, but I was not going any closer. I had already had my spider adventure for the day.
Different spider, almost the same size.
The flowers here are bunches of wild lily’s. The ‘small’ spider was as big as the flowers.
And of course, just when you think it’s safe this is across the trail heading out.
This time of year if you see one big web, look out. Chances are you are surrounded.
