A close up at a very unique angle. Almost standing on his back. The bird was down a little off the berm we were walking. I missed him until Ellen pointed.

I walked right to the edge before I spotted him. Then I backed up since I couldn’t focus that close. We looked at each other but the bird would glance away, the old ignore and it will go away thing.

I assumed this would get a good in flight photograph.

I backed up further for the image above needing room to get the wing span. There was no flying involved.
Our basic rule is ‘don’t push it’. When we are lucky to be interacting with a bird like this they should have control.
And…he was there first. So we left after these shots.
