Barred Owl in the typical perch position. When we find an owl there is a good chance he will be on a branch, halfway up a tree, almost leaning on the another branch or the truck.
Photographs taken a few days ago had an owl up against the moss and tree trunk. Here one is on a fork.
Perhaps they instinctively know this helps them to hide. Considering how often we walk right by them it must work fairly well.
