Some of my favorite photographs are of the big birds caught in flight. The best are when they come by close. Well, not too close because that’s when you start cutting off part of wing.

In this series that’s exactly what I did when I first started shooting.

This time I was lucky to have enough time to pull back and catch the flight a little better.

I think after these I started to cut his head off. But I did get the middle fly by.
It is difficult to catch these shy and alert birds. thanks.
I’m lucky to have moved to the lowcountry. Herons, marshes and their rookeries are a everywhere. It’s still not easy, but if it was I’d be doing something else.
