This is the first photograph in a series. A swamp is not the horrible and frightening place depicted in books and movies. Colors and textures, perfect for photographs, are everywhere.

The subject above is a ‘Knee’ from a Cypress tree. The unique root system that allows the tree to grow in water.
Light streams through the overhead canopy lighting some places, keeping others dark, but always reflections that can hide where water ends and dry land begins.
