Alligator Waiting

Very big, and very patient.  We were on the dike top, and he wanted the spot. Nothing very complicated. They will just wait…

This photograph I knelt down and pulled the lens back to the minimum of 150 mm.

He was close, as you can see by the grass, but never had any thought other than to just wait.

Respect, and don’t be stupid ! That rule works for both.

Oh, and don’t go near any babies. That falls under the stupid rule.

  1. As long as alligators have survived says something about patience. That said, I”m not so sure I would dare to judge a gator’s thoughts, as in that you were safe because the gator is patient. I’m guessing that critter could leap a long distance in a heartbeat. Perhaps lulling you into safety before making a move?

    1. Well, he was in the water and I was up a 6 foot bank (dike). I would have plenty of notice. I am well aware of what they can do, I’m out there 4/5 days a week. That said, I’m also cautious.

    2. good! I’m sure you know. When I opened your jpg and saw that eye staring at me it made me scared! And I’m nowhere near the critter! lol
