A teenager. They are the ones most likely to share the trails with us.

I’m not sure when, but Alligators lose the different colors and shades along their body. When adults they are a solid dull color.

As a point of reference this one was probably close to 3 feet (91cm). Maybe 3 years old. They grow around 1 foot (30.5cm) a year until about 4. Then it’s a slow growth.

Good thing too, they live a long time. A guess is 30 – 50 years, one having been recorded to 80.
