After the recent storms many of the reeds and grasses have broken into small ‘floating’ islands. The Herons have been taking advantage of them near the Ashley River.

These photographs were taken right before we had a change in weather so everything was still a bright green.

As of now the marshes are still very green, but some browns have started to show.

There will not be any cold temperatures until mid January probably. A little brown mixed in we can live with.
Nice shots. It must be something to see these birds “sail down” the waterways.
They are beautiful birds. This bird was staying near the rookery where we photographed the young growing this year. Probably one of the adults, or might be one of the juveniles grown now.
