Now… Which Dowitcher ? There are at least two types.

I have no clue. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out they were something else entirely.

My identification of small shorebirds is ‘suspect’.

This was taken in the early morning light (8:30 AM) which gave both the reflections and sheen over the shallow water.

I doubt I will be seeing any again until next year, this is out a pretty good distance in a large marshland.
Wonderful photos, the light is spectacular!
Within 15 minutes we found these Dowitcher’s, Spoonbills, and White Pelican. Lucky since the light was gone right after that.
I love the first light there. but some of these places are just so remote, we are up so early, I could go back to bed by noon !!!
