Thanks. I believe the Kingfishers near you are more colorful. They are one of the hardest birds to photograph here. fast and very shy.

Ours have a lot of blue that shimmers in the light. But I’d hate to try and photo them as they always seem to be flying fast or perched somewhere too high! Don’t see them much down south here. There were plenty where I grew up in northern NZ.

I was going to say that I thought they were bluer, but it must be a different species in the north? They’re beautiful and have a weird cry. Nice shots!

This is a Belted Kingfisher, female. Texas, US, has 2 other species. The rest of North America has the Belted (I’m pretty sure, but not 100% sure).
