This bird was really impressive, please view the gallery.
He landed with his toes pointing straight down, breaking the water, but look how delicate the full landing was…and this is a really big bird.

Below the long claws are touching, but still not a hint of a splash.

Herons turn their large wings back, and down, to slow their descent, it works no matter how fast they are going.

This sequence was shot at 10 images a second which allowed me to capture the entire scene. There are few cameras that can catch this, the Canon 7D2 is one of them.

Lately I’ve been complaining about the type of gear I need to take out. However, I’m pretty sure this series could not be taken without all the ‘stuff’.
