In The Middle Of A Pelican Lunch

I’m fairly sure this is the first time seeing a ‘Pile Of Pelicans’ feeding…up close and personal for many people. Click the images to view details, fish and Pelicans in a pile.

Above I see at least one flounder and two other fish, in the middle of this.

There were between 50 – 75 Brown Pelicans following the shrimp boats into the docks. As the nets and holding pens are emptied of the days catch scraps are cleaned and some pushed overboard. Standing by the back of the boats or low side piers places you right in the center of chaos.

With luck everything stays dry.

Oh yeah, while they pushed, bit, and shoved, hardly a sound was made.

    1. Not a good idea. These shots are only a small spot too. There were several shrimp boats coming back in at the same time. Each had a trail of Pelicans, Egrets, Gulls, and even Dolphins. The Dolphins don’t stay on the surface long so getting a shot is pure luck. None today, but we did see plenty over the afternoon.
