When you see a group of Alligators, up close to each other, and up close to you, the photograph composition gets a little out of the norm. Well there is no time for composition. It’s get the shot, and don’t trip…in that order.

I still love shooting the Alligators, and this was exceptional.

Only closeups are in this article, however there were big bodies everywhere taking advantage of shallow water.

I was going for the dramatic shots here, but really the whole scene was high drama. I had a perfect spot, up on top of the marsh water gate, about 20 feet above the fray.

I am told this can happen maybe once a year. I made sure to shoot enough images to last until then.
