This Willet (and a few others) was a bonus when walking on the shore last week. The pools had Willets and Sanderlings that were too busy to flee at first sight.
The sun was low enough to be tricky on the water unless you had the right angle on the bird.
I figured out the angle early on but the bird didn’t want me to be in front of him. The faster I walked to keep position…the faster he walked to keep even.
Ultimately I gave up and let him do whatever. I missed some great shots, but I didn’t try to out run a Willet in the sand either.
