I find Great Blue Herons to be much more interactive with their mates than other birds. The 4 photographs here clearly display the male greeting his mate aggressively. By the last image she just looks back, and appears to push right back. Which he of course accepts.

Thanks, I do too. For the next month or so I can follow these 2 birds closer than normal (building a nest right near a trail) and hope to get a few more like this. Herons will actually hug if one is gone from the nest for a long period.
