I have said before that Great Blues seem to be affectionate to their mate. I’m not sure that’s a thing birds can actually have. But this series was taken after one of the pair returned from a long absence.

They called out and greeted each other.

I have been placing photographs in galleries more often lately. It seems a way to provide additional images without cluttering up an article. Also a viewer can choose wither to view or not.
If you have any thoughts on how you view galleries, good or bad, place make a comment. I would be interested in feed back.
I go back and forth about how I feel about galleries. My argument against them would be that they make the image too small. In this case, the gallery tells a story though, so I think it is effective in that sense. I’m glad though, that you have also included some photos as larger singles.
Thanks for that feed back. Do you ever ‘click’, or ‘double tap/click’ any gallery images to make them display in a slide show? Curious if that is OK.
I had not for this particular post, so I went back and gave it a try. It is working well as a slideshow on my Mac, a laptop in this case, which is how I usually view your blog.
Thank you. I have no negative feed back so I guess people are OK with the format. Thanks again.
Beautiful series.
Thank you. The start of breeding, and with luck will have more opportunities.
They’re gorgeous birds, Ted. Love the pics of them.
Thanks. There should be many more pairs in the next few weeks. The rookeries can be full until mid summer.
