The Great Blue was continuing to gather branches as we lost light.

Most of the nest building has occurred end of day.

At dusk one side of the swamp here goes dark, the other has a glow for a few minutes each day. Which side the herons choose, who knows.

Some days we go to the right spot and on others we watch as they fly by, our shots blocked by branches and Spanish Moss.

Either way it’s a great show and certainly beats working in an office!
These are Beautiful!
Hey, thanks. A little more light could have helped.
Some images remember Avatar movie! ;]
Herons are inspirations to fly in heart.
Birds are!
Golds and blues are beautiful. It was carrying a branch. Do you think she (?) was building a nest?
Yes, they are breeding now. This was photographed in a rookery, a place where Herons gather to build nests.
I like that. The stick adds to the story of the picture. Great work.
That light is amazing! Wonderful!
This time of year early evening out in the swamps is prefect light…for a little while. It will keep getting better for another month maybe.
