This series of 6 photographs were made possible by a predictable Heron. You can watch for all the signs the bird is about to take flight, even know the wind, but they can do exactly the opposite of the expected.

This Heron flew exactly where he should have.

The lack of bright sunlight meant he wouldn’t be flying through shadows either. For me this route was great, for the bird a dangerous low path. Alligators are right here, and they can jump fairly high. A little more altitude would have been a better idea.
