The Anhinga is the only local to like the new construction.
One of the local swamps is getting some much needed water flow repair. It is part of a hundreds year old rice plantation and who knows when the ditches and pipes were last fixed.
Ducks Unlimited, a national conservation group, is involved to be sure wildlife is considered (not too mention the money is from them).
A few new wooden wildlife platforms were added to replace the Alligator / Bird chewed old ones.
Turns out that so far no one wants the clean ones. All the locals have just taken space in the middle of any trails if they want to dry out.
Interesting looking bird. It looks like he’s flexing his ‘muscles’ in the second shot😏
Probably drying his wings (a male). Like Cormorants they have no natural oil so must get out of the water to dry. Amazing underwater swimmers and spear fish while diving.
