Drippy Day Landscapes

I’m not a big fan of walking in the rain. It was a light drizzle off and on, so we managed to stay dry and get a walk near the old Santee Canal.

The canal was built between 1793 to 1800 to link the rivers and marshes for moving goods. It wasn’t a great success, had a drought, bad construction, a civil war…the usual. Now it’s back to marshes and lakes.

The county here has a park boardwalk along a stretch. BTW, parks here are a little different than where I am from. Up north it’s a picnic table and trash bin. Here it’s a ‘watch for Alligators’ sign, lots of marshes / swamps to get back to the parking lot.

No complaints.
