Egret Hunting In The Mangroves

When I first watched Egrets hunting in swamps and mangroves I always assumed they were fishing. Having heads up and looking through the branches or reeds never meant anything. Again, they eat fish.

No, they eat anything ! I finally caught them snatching small lizards, insects, and other assorted creepy things.

The bird above is probably looking for small Anole lizards.

    1. Thanks. That spot was probably the only place with no glare at the time 😀. It was a wide open marsh with shade only under the Mangroves. An incredible number of animals were right in front of me and I could not get a decent shot 😳😳😳.
