Egrets, Passing The Stick

Like Herons passing the first sticks is part of the mating ritual.

The green coloring around the beak is a breeding sign, like the long ‘bridal’ feathers. The color fades soon after the young are raised.

    1. Thank you. They do it all the time during mating, and on through keeping the nest intact. Getting a clear shot and proper angle is the reason we don’t see many close images like this.
